Montserrat, Food & Wine

Montserrat is the most important mountain in Catalonia. A unique massif famous for its gothic shapes, beautiful views, ideal for all sort of treks, and climbing. For many around the world it is a spiritual mountain rife with mystical stories that span from pre-historic times to our days.

The tour begins in Barcelona, at Palmes 5, from where we depart in a bus to the National Park of Montserrat, just a 1 hour drive away from Barcelona.

Take a guided tour of the monastery and learn about the architecture and history. Over 80 monks still currently inhabit the monastery and follow the ruling of Saint Benedict.

You then can follow a range of trails to a number of small churches around the area. You then have free time to visit the audio exhibitions, shop locally, or even sample some of the local liquors.

After your free time we meet with the guide again and make our way to Torres Wine Cellars – a local winery. Learn about the wine-making process and sample some of their best wine paired with an Iberian ham tapa.

If you included the Gastronomic Lunch, you will now enjoy your delicious meal. If not, you have free time to explore the vineyards or grab a bite at the restaurant.

We then make our way to the fisherman’s village of Sitges. This town is one of the most beautiful along the Catalan coast. Enjoy a guide tour around the narrow streets and beautiful beaches, then enjoy some more free time to spend how you please. We then make our way back to Barcelona.
